On March 14th, Convene had the pleasure of attending the 2018 AoC Governance Summit in London.

The Association of Colleges (AoC) is a not-for-profit membership organisation set up in 1996 by colleges to act as their collective voice. They exist to represent and promote the interests of colleges and provide members with professional support services.

The Governance Summit brings together partners and stakeholders as well as key representatives of the education community to share good practice and achievements of Further Education and Sixth Form College governance.

As Convene is fast becoming the preferred digital board meeting solution for colleges, with West Herts and South City College becoming our most recent additions to our customer community, this was a great opportunity to talk to people about their digital needs and investments.

There were also many excellent talks on cultural changes in post-merger situations, diversity, unconscious bias in the boardroom, financial responsibilities and funding for the sector.

Our favourite talk was on ‘Technology for Governors’, which covered topics such as information security and taking full advantage of the DfE grant funded services provided by Jisc to improve digital capabilities.

Overall, it was a well organised event with many interesting insights and we look forward to attending it again next year.

With such a good ROI, nothing intimidates Convene.
