Established first in 1870 as the National Union of Elementary Teachers (NUET), the National Union of Teachers (NUT) is a trade union for school teachers in England, Wales, Channel Islands, and Isle of Man. The NUT recruits both qualified teachers as well as those in the process for acquiring teaching qualifications. Currently, the union has over 300,000 members, making it the largest teachers' union in Europe.

In early 2016, the Union explored ways in which executive meetings could be made either completely paperless or the volume of paper used significantly reduced. Typically, three document sets were produced per meeting - one for posting, one for pigeon holes and the third for distribution during meetings. NUT wanted to minimise this level of paper usage and subsequent waste.

Following a review of a number of products, Convene was chosen as the product proved to be a close fit for NUT, not only with regards to their requirements but also within an affordable price range.

Ten executive members participated in a pilot that commenced in the July 2016 committee cycle and a demonstration was also done to the ICT Subcommittee. As a result of the huge success of the July 2016 pilot, the 'no more paper please' project aims to go live in March 2017.

Kathy Monah, Head of Information Systems at the National Union of Teachers thanked the Convene sales and the support team for “continued support as we couldn't have done it without your training and support.”
