Launched in November 2020, the Sustainability Reporting Standard for Social Housing (SRS) serves as a voluntary ESG reporting framework developed by a consortium of housing associations, financial and impact advisory firms ranging from The Good Economy to Peabody, Optivo and Centrus.
The Standard was set up in response to concerns that ESG investment in the social housing sector was being inhibited by the absence of a common reporting standard.
Since the launch of the standard, 74 housing associations have begun reporting to the SRS with this number only expected to grow.
While the standard is aimed at providing investors and lenders with relevant and comparable ESG performance across the sector, the SRS can act as a starting point for any housing association looking to asses its ESG performance.
